JAPAN 73/RG ST 73 - INTRO JAPAN RELIG - Fall 2023
Japan has a rich and fascinating religious history involving several of the most important religious and philosophical systems of Asia. This course serves both as an introduction to the history of Japanese religions and the ways in which religion has interacted with culture at large from the distant past until today. We will (i) study the historical and cultural background, (ii) read some important religious texts, and (iii) discuss representative aspects of the visual and material culture for each period.
